HOUSTON (AP) — Jamal Crawford scored a season-high 30 points last night as the Los Angeles Clippers topped the Houston Rockets 117-109. Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe added 19 points apiece for the Clippers, who played without point guard Chris Paul. James Harden had 23 points for the Rockets, who have lost four straight.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have signed right-hander Kyle McClellan to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. McClellan pitched the last five seasons for St. Louis. The 28-year-old underwent surgery on his right elbow and shoulder last July.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Medical conditions have prompted center Cokie Reed and guard Chelsea Bass to retire from the Texas women's basketball team. Reed says that she is retiring with exercise-induced hypertension. Bass says she's ending her career after "extensive insight from the UT medical staff." But the Austin American-Statesman reports she recently suffered her fourth career concussion.

HOUSTON (AP) — The University of Houston has chosen former Houston Texans assistant David Gibbs as defensive coordinator. Cougars coach Tony Levine announced the hiring of Gibbs yesterday. His last collegiate coaching job was in 2005 as defensive coordinator at Auburn.
