GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Matt Smith tallied 17 points and seven rebounds to help Mississippi Valley State beat Grambling State 65-50 Monday night and hand the Tigers their 18th straight loss. Davon Usher knocked down three treys en route to 14 points and Cordarius Sample came off the bench for 12 points for the Delta Devils.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Christian Williams turned in a season-high 27 points as Jackson State downed Southwestern Athletic Conference-rival Arkansas-Pine Bluff 82-67 Monday night. Williams knocked down a career-best 7 of 13 3-pointers as he hit 9 of 18 from the field.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Saints spokesman Greg Bensel says general manager Mickey Loomis has a contract that runs through 2017. Bensel says Loomis agreed to the deal last August but the team chose not to discuss it publicly until Monday, when the subject came up during media events connected to the Super Bowl.
