LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney both scored in the third period last night to give the Dallas Stars a 2-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen made 40 saves to earn his first shutout of the season. Dallas has won four straight at the Staples Center.

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — The Houston Astros hit three home runs off Justin Verlander last night en route to a 7-2 win over the Detroit Tigers. Carlos Corporan belted two homers, and Brandon Laird and Matt Dominguez also went deep for the Astros. Verlander allowed four earned runs in five-plus innings.

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Matt Harrison has been named the Texas Rangers' opening day starter. Harrison will be the fourth different opening day starter in the past four seasons for the Rangers. Yu Darvish will start the second game of the regular season on April 2nd.

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston rookie Royce White has said on Twitter that his time with the Rockets' developmental league team in the Rio Grande Valley may be over. White said yesterday that he's been advised by the team physician that "it is most logical I be in Houston the remainder of the season." A spokesman for the Rockets say White is still on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers roster.
