AVONDALE, La. (AP) — Ernie Els returns to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans later this month.
Els has committed to the $6.6 million event after last year's runner-up finish to Jason Dufner, who won the title in a playoff. Els then claimed his second British Open title last July by one shot over Adam Scott. It was his fourth major title of his career.
Steve Worthy, CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation, which produces the PGA Tour event, told The Advocate (http://bit.ly/YTMxK9 ) Tuesday that they're excited about having Els as part of the field again. With Els, the Zurich Classic now has six majors winners holding a combined four U.S. Open titles, three British Open crowns, two PGA Championships and one Masters.
This year's event will be played April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana.
