HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Cole Weeks completed 26 of 41 passes for 310 yards at Southern Mississippi's spring game on Saturday afternoon. The junior is one of several quarterbacks competing for the starting job as coach Todd Monken prepares for his first season with the Golden Eagles. Redshirt freshman Kyle Sloter completed 13 of 23 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Chattanooga has hired Tennessee senior associate athletics director for administration David Blackburn as its new athletic director. The hiring was announced Saturday by the university. Blackburn will be introduced Tuesday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Center Yemi Makanjoula is on his way out of Tennessee after being granted a release to transfer. Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin announced Saturday in a university release that "Yemi and I came to a mutual agreement that it would be in his best interest to get a fresh start with a new program." Martin said Makanjuola was leaving Tennessee on good terms.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Matt Crafton charged to the lead in a crash-filled race at Kansas Speedway, and then held off a late run by Joey Coulter to pick up his third career Truck Series victory Saturday. Crafton and Coulter played cat-and-mouse games over the final 20 laps before Crafton prevailed.
