OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Moss hit back-to-back home runs last night in the Oakland Athletics' 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers. A's starter A.J. Griffin matched his season high with eight strikeouts en route to his fourth victory of the year. Mitch Moreland hit a solo home run for the Rangers.

DETROIT (AP) — Andy Dirks' first career grand slam lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros last night. Victor Martinez also homered for the Tigers, who swept four straight from Houston earlier this month. Astros starter Bud Norris allowed seven runs in five innings before leaving with back spasms.

HOUSTON (AP) — George Postolos has resigned as president and CEO of the Houston Astros. The team announced the decision yesterday before it opened a series in Detroit. Postolos had been Astros president and CEO since November 2011.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have signed fifth-round pick Joseph Randle. The running back out of Oklahoma State signed a four-year contract yesterday. The Cowboys also signed three players off the workout roster from rookie minicamp and released three other players.
