UNDATED (AP) — Max Scherzer is 13-0 on the season and tonight he is looking for win No. 14 in a game against the Indians in Cleveland. On top of the Scherzer story, the outcome of the game will affect the American League Central standings. With a win the Indians would move to just 1 ½ games back of the Tigers for first place. Tonight's game also puts an end to the four-game series the clubs have been involved in since last Friday.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Cubs and Nationals have pulled off a trade. The deal sends outfielder Scott Hairston to Washington for a minor league pitcher. The Cubs signed Hairston to a two-year deal in the offseason, but he has struggled, hitting just .172 with eight home runs and 19 RBIs.

DALLAS (AP) — Free agent center Chris Mueller has signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars. He split last season between Nashville and the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL. He had five points in 18 games with the Predators.

GULLANE, Scotland (AP) — The British Open starts play July 18th at Muirfield in Scotland. The field is set with the news that former winner John Daly has had to withdraw as he faces elbow surgery. This is the third major of the year in golf, following the Masters and U.S. Open.

LONDON (AP) — Despite winning Wimbledon Andy Murray remains No. 2 in the newly released ATP rankings. He follows the man he beat in London, Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich). On the women's side of things, Serena Williams remains at No. 1 despite losing in the fourth-round at Wimbledon.
