BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Suspended LSU running back Jeremy Hill has pleaded guilty to simple battery in connection with a bar fight in April. Hill entered the plea yesterday in state district court in Baton Rouge. He will not have to go to jail for the fight. However, he faces possible probation revocation in a January 2012 guilty plea to misdemeanor carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) — The Dizzy Dean World Series has arrived at Southaven. The event is bringing more than 100 softball and baseball teams to play at Greenbrook and Snowden Grove parks for the next two weeks. The tournament highlights the economic impact that youth baseball has made in Southaven.

MIAMI (AP) — North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran, the sixth overall pick in baseball's amateur draft, finalized an agreement with the Miami Marlins before Friday's deadline. Moran agreed to a signing bonus of $3,516,500, which was the slot value assigned to the selection.
