PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — Jackson County was well-represented when the Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources announced the certification of five new saltwater-fishing records.
The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/15J4Pi3 ) the husband-and-wife team of Cecily and Tommy O'Brien from Pascagoula each established their own marks.
Cecily O'Brien broke the conventional record for Atlantic Spadefish with a 9-pound, 8-ounce fish.
Tommy O'Brien caught a conventional state record in the Lockdown with a 3-pound fish.
Jack Paul Edwards of Moss Point established a new conventional record for Gray Snapper with a 29-pound, 11-ounce catch.
Doug Borries of Ocean Springs set the fly-fishing tackle record for the Gaftopsail Catfish with a 4-pound, 10-ounce fish.
Mark Alan Ros Jr., also of Ocean Springs, set a new state mark with a Gray Snapper that checked in at 13 pounds and 15 ounces.
