MADISON, Miss. (AP) — Sanderson Farms has agreed to extend its title sponsorship to the PGA Tour's Sanderson Farms Championship for three years.
The tournament at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss., will be moved to the front of the Tour's revamped schedule and be played in October instead of July. The change means the tournament will not be part of the 2013-14 schedule. The next tournament will be in October 2014.
Officials announced Tuesday that the tournament's purse would increase from $3 million to $4 million. It will be played the same week as the World Golf Championship-HSBC Champions event in China.
Sanderson Farms' commitment through 2016 gives the tournament some stability after several years of uncertainty. It is Mississippi's only Tour event.
