HOUSTON (AP) — Clete Thomas scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the 12th inning to help the Minnesota Twins beat the Houston Astros 9-6 last night. Thomas reached on a fielder's choice and went to third on Josmil Pinto's double. Kevin Chapman then uncorked a wild pitch with pinch-hitter Ryan Doumit at the plate.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — The Dallas Cowboys have signed veteran guard Brian Waters to bolster a position plagued by injuries since the start of training camp. He will get $1.5 million in base salary. Waters signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie fullback 14 years ago out of North Texas before going on to a 10-year career as a lineman with Kansas City.

MONTAGUE, Texas (AP) — A sheriff says the fatal shooting of a North Texas high school football player appears to have been accidental. Montague (mahn-TAYG') County Sheriff Paul Cunningham says the death of Nathan Maki was "a tragic accident." The senior fullback and linebacker for Denton Guyer High School was found with a gunshot wound to the head in a pickup truck Saturday night.
