JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Today's Jackson State-Grambling game has been cancelled. Jackson State spokesman Wesley Peterson told The Associated Press that Grambling officials informed them of the decision yesterday Disgruntled Grambling players had refused to travel to Mississippi.

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — LSU's Zach Mettenberger and Mississippi's Bo Wallace appeared on the brink of stardom last season. Mettenberger has made the jump. Wallace isn't quite there yet. The two quarterbacks will meet in a potentially touchdown-filled showdown when No. 6 LSU travels to face Ole Miss today.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies earned their third straight preseason win with a 97-91 victory over the Orlando Magic last night. Mike Miller had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Ed Davis added 16 points and 10 boards. Miller took a hard fall early in the fourth quarter, but was able to remain in the game.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The South Carolina Gamecocks are riding a wave of momentum into the second half of the season. However, they can't overlook Tennessee, which nearly stunned Georgia in its last game and scared the heck out of South Carolina in Columbia a year ago. Tennessee will try to end South Carolina's four-game winning streak today at Neyland Stadium.
