LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Marquis Vance scored 20 points, eight coming at the free throw line, as Alcorn State beat Grambling State 64-56 Monday night. LeAntwan Luckett added 17 points for Alcorn State and Octavius Brown added 10 and nine rebounds. A'Torri Shine finished with 16 points in a losing effort for Grambling State.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Calvin Godfrey scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as Southern University overwhelmed Jackson State 60-36 Monday night. Tre Lynch had 10 points and four steals for Southern. The Jaguars held Jackson State to 16 points in the second half.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Green Hill had 13 points and eight rebounds as Alabama A&M pulled away in the final 3 minutes to beat Mississippi Valley State 68-59 Monday night. Alabama A&M finished the game on an 8-1 run. Even though the Bulldogs struggled with 4-of-10 free-throw shooting over that span, MVSU squandered its chances with two costly turnovers.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jackson State has hired former NFL standout Harold Jackson as its football coach. Jackson replaces Rick Comegy, who was fired in December after eight seasons. Jackson State had an 8-4 record this fall, but lost to Southern in the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game.
