NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Saints and right tackle Zach Strief have agreed to a five-year contract extension. Strief, who has spent his entire eight-year career in New Orleans and became a starter in 2011, had entered free agency last week but expressed an interest in working out a deal to remain with the Saints if the club could field a competitive offer.

HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Southeastern Louisiana University's men's basketball coach will not return after completing his ninth season. Director of Athletics Jay Artigues said Monday the university would immediately begin a national search for Jim Yarbrough's replacement.

MONROE, La. (AP) — After 19 seasons at the helm of the University of Louisiana at Monroe's women's basketball program, coach Mona Martin is retiring. Martin's retirement was announced Monday in a university news release. She began coaching at Natchitoches High School in 1976.

UNDATED (AP) — Tennessee is the No. 1 seed in the Louisville Regional. The Lady Vols, who are the only team to have played in every NCAA tournament, will open up against Northwestern State on Saturday. Tennessee is trying to end a five-year drought of not making it to the Final Four — the longest such streak in school history.
