BALTIMORE (AP) — The 139th Preakness is taking place later today at Pimlico in Baltimore. The winner of the Kentucky Derby, California Chrome, is considered the favorite. A field of 10 horses will take to the starting gate early this evening.

MONTREAL (AP) — The first game of the NHL's Eastern Conference final is taking place in Montreal this afternoon as the Canadiens are hosting the Rangers. They met three times during the season with the Canadiens winning twice.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — The rain-delayed second round of the LPGA's Kingsmill Championship was completed this morning. The leader as round three begins is Hee Young Park, who finished play Friday at 8-under and starts weekend play with a one-shot lead over three players.

IRVING, Texas (AP) — The third round of the PGA's Byron Nelson Championship is underway in Irving, Texas. The leader at the midway mark yesterday was Brendon Todd , by two shots over eight players. Among those in second was Paul Casey, who matched the PGA Tour record for the best score on a back nine yesterday when he carded an 8-under-27.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Mark Calcavecchia (kal-kuh-VEHK'-ee-ah) starts the day in front of the Champions Tour Regions Tradition event in Birmingham, Ala. This is the first major of the year for the over-50 group. Calcavecchia shot a second-round 3-under 69 to finish play 6 under, one shot in front of Jay Haas.
