OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Derek Norris hit a home run and drove in five runs as the Oakland Athletics held off the Texas Rangers for an 10-6 victory last night. Tommy Milone won his fifth consecutive decision as the A's won their third in four games. Milone gave up three runs and five hits over 5 2-3 innings.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Daniel Pinero's sacrifice fly scored Thomas Woodruff in the bottom of the 15th inning to give Virginia a 3-2 victory last night over TCU. Pinero fouled off two squeeze-bunt attempts against Trey Teakell before he lofted a fly to center. TCU plays Ole Miss in an elimination game tomorrow.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Texas Rangers have recalled left-hander Aaron Poreda from Triple-A Round Rock. Left-hander Robbie Ross was optioned to Round Rock to make room for Poreda. The Rangers also signed first baseman Carlos Pena to a minor league contract and assigned him to Round Rock.

DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Stars have bought out the final year of defenseman Aaron Rome's contract. Teams were given two amnesty buyouts that must be used by the end of the month under the NHL collective bargaining agreement. The Stars will pay Rome two-thirds of the $1.6 million he was set to earn next season.
