STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Old Waverly Golf Club, a renowned golf destinations located in West Point, is the new home to Mississippi State men's and women's varsity golf programs.
The Bulldog Club, the private fundraising arm of the MSU athletics, is partnering with Old Waverly on $2.2 million in improvements.
The first phase — a driving range, a short-game area and a putting green shaped as the state of Mississippi — is under construction and should be completed this fall.
A clubhouse with locker rooms, players' lounge, coaches' offices, indoor putting center, exercise room and conference room is next.
Since 1990, Old Waverly has hosted the men's and women's Southeastern Conference Championship, Southern Golf Association Women's and Junior Championships, the 2006 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, as well as the 1999 U.S. Women's Open.
