SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Maryland guard Greivis Vasquez, the ACC player of the year, will try to slow Houston's Aubrey Coleman, the nation's leading scorer, when the teams meet in the first round of the Midwest Regional.
Coleman, who averaged 25.6 points per game this season for Houston (19-15), will get some extra attention from fourth-seeded Maryland (23-8) on Friday. The Terrapins don't play much man-to-man defense.
But Vasquez said Coleman will also have to play defense on him, and the native of Venezuela averages 19.5 points per game.
