LSU reserve redshirt freshman quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. to transfer to another school

BATON ROUGE - LSU redshirt freshman Lindsey Scott Jr. of Zachary has decided to transfer from the program after falling well out of the running at the quarterback position.

"I had a very good talk with Lindsey this morning, and we talked about his future," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said in a release by the sports information department. "He is a great young man from a great family. We wish him all of the best in the future."

Scott, who passed for 3,039 yards and rushed for 1,963 yards in leading Zachary High to the 5A state title in 2015, sat out the 2016 season at LSU as a redshirt. He was behind No. 1 quarterback Danny Etling, emerging true freshman Myles Brennan as well as sophomore Justin McMillan and 2017 signee Lowell Narcisse.

Scott, a late addition to the Tigers' 2016 signing class, was named the Gatorade Louisiana Football Player of the Year in 2015 and Mr. Football in Louisiana by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association
