NFL fines Sean Payton over Falcons' game incident

"I'm going to be in there," he said while exiting the Saints locker room after practice. "I'm good to go."

ESPN.com and the NFL Network are reporting that Saints head coach Sean Payton has been fined $10,000 by the league for improperly entering the playing field during last Thursday's game against Atlanta.

The NFL also fined Seattle's head coach Pete Carroll for a similar offense.

Payton had taken exception to several calls during the game, including a penalty on the Saints right before halftime that negated a field goal, a roughing penalty that gave the Falcons a first down and a few other calls.

Late in the game, Payton rushed onto the field, saying he was asking for a timeout, instead he received a penalty.
