East Rutherford, NJ -- New Orleans Saints cornerback P.J. Williams was immobilized and carted off the field by medical staff during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
NFL officials say Williams was evaluated for a concussion and was taken to a nearby hospital to have his spine checked. Williams remained in New York after the injury.
Williams will be coming back to New Orleans Monday afternoon, head coach Sean Payton said. "All the news is positive."
Williams was injured after making a diving tackle on Giants tight end Larry Donnell and colliding with linebacker Craig Robertson who was tacking Donnell from the other side.
The injury to Williams leaves the Saints without both of their starting cornerbacks. Delvin Breaux is expected to miss six weeks with a broken fibula.
