Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux, who was reportedly close to returning to the lineup after a preseason injury to his leg, will now be on injured reserve and miss the remainder of the season, head coach Sean Payton was quoted as saying to several national and local media outlets.
Breaux was anticipated to be the team's top cornerback but during training camp he was found to have a stress fracture, rather than a previously-diagnosed 'contusion.'
The incident caused the team to dismiss two if its doctors.
Breaux's absence has been eased by the play of rookie Marshon Lattimore, who is now seen as one of the top corners in the NFL.
