Skyler Green Part III:
It was tough this morning for the special teams practice. It felt like I couldn’t get going at all, but I fought through it. I’m getting ready to go to this next practice and hopefully I can fight through that one and not worry about this cold.
I don’t think it will set me back, I just have to fight through it…and it’s something that a lot of guys get through.
I’m looking forward to our off day Sunday. You use that day to kind of relax and get the soreness out. I think that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to take that day and kind of relax, I may get a massage and try to get my body, hopefully, as close as (possible) to the day I came in.
I don’t feel like I’m competing against any specific player. I don’t look at it like I have to be better than this player or that player, but I’ve just got to do my part and do everything I can do and hopefully the coaches can see that I’m not trying to battle any guy, I’m battling for myself. I want to be that guy to make the 53-man roster and bring the team closer to the Super Bowl if I can.
When I came in as a rookie it was tough because I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know where to be or what to do, but now I have a better grasp on it. This is the toughest camp that I’ve been in. The toughest part was the first three days, all two-a-days, and then we went to a one-a-day and then a two-a-day, but my body is getting used to it. My body is sore, but it’s on auto pilot right now. Your body is just reacting but you have to fight through it.
I became friends with a guy who got hurt the other day and got released…Chris Barclay…and I mean, looking at his situation, his situation and mine are very similar. We were both worked with different teams before we got here. When he and I sat down to talk and we talked about what we expected out of ourselves and it just seems that he fell short because of the injury. I say a prayer for him and I think he’ll be all right. I say a prayer for him, and he is my boy and I wish him the best and I will keep in touch with him.
