FOREST HILL -- LSU sophomore baseball player Chris McGhee escaped serious injury after a one-car accident on Interstate 49 on Monday.

McGhee, 19, from Alexandria, walked away from the accident with cuts to the top of his right foot and left knee.
According to McGhee, his Jeep Cherokee veered off the highway's northbound lanes, went into the median, crossed the southbound lanes and flipped four to five times before coming to rest on its top on a hill midway up the Forest Hill exit ramp.
He was able to get out and was walking beside the wreckage when emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
"I had just taken a drink from my water bottle and was putting it back into my cup holder when I bumped my stick shift," he said. "I'm not sure whether I just knocked it into neutral or reverse, but when I tried to get it back into drive I found my Jeep was heading toward the median. I remember it flipping, but after that I don't remember too much."
McGhee was traveling home when the accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m.
After the accident, his parents, Louis and Ollie McGhee, took him to Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital to be checked out.
LSU played a three-game series at Mississippi State over the weekend. The Tigers' next game is Wednesday against Southern University.
A two-sport star at Alexandria Senior High, McGhee earned four letters in baseball and three in football (quarterback), garnering all-district and all-state honors in both and leading both teams to district titles as a senior.
At LSU, McGhee has started 21 of 29 games, splitting time between second base and the outfield. Currently, he is hitting .237 with eight stolen bases.
