LSU's Skip Bertman suffers 'early signs of heart attack'

BATON ROUGE -- LSU Senior Associate Athletics Director Herb Vincent issued the following statement from the NCAA Baseball Regional concerning Athletics Director Skip Bertman's condition after being hospitalized on Saturday afternoon.

“Coach Skip Bertman was at home today experiencing some discomfort this afternoon and chose to go to the hospital. He was showing the early signs of a heart attack. He had blockage in one of the main arteries to the heart. Coach Bertman had a stent placed in his heart and the procedure was successful. He is now is the hospital resting comfortably and will be there for several days. Thank you.”
