NEW ORLEANS -- It’s not just Baltimore and San Francisco fans filling up the streets of New Orleans. More than 5,200 members of the media are in town as well.
Many of them moved into their temporary digs at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on Monday.
Sports networks and radio stations are already broadcasting live from New Orleans, and local leaders hope the media will note how far the city has come since Hurricane Katrina.
The hall is filled with positive messaging, touting the food and culture of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region.
“Last year, it was Indianapolis, which was tremendous, but it just had a little more of a homier feel,” said Whitey Gleason of KGMZ San Francisco. “This has a little more of an exotic flavor that we're already enjoying very much.”
Monday night media members participated in a pub crawl through the Warehouse District.
