Tough Mudding for the Wounded Warrior Project

Lyons Yellin will be competing in the New Orleans Tough Mudder Challenge on March 18, 2017. The goal is to challenge, while also challenging the community to help raise money for the Wounded Warriors Project.

NEW ORLEANS -- As its mission, the Wounded Warrior Project serves to honor and empower Wounded Warriors with the goal of fostering the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

It's with that in mind, I, Lyons Yellin, sports reporter at WWL-TV Channel 4, will be competing in the New Orleans Tough Mudder Challenge on March 18, 2017.  The goal is to challenge myself, while also challening the community to help raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.

I'll be wearing a Go Pro camera and we'll be shooting the event, talking to its participants and organizers for a story scheduled to air on "Fourth Down on 4" Sunday, March 19.

On Wednesday, March 16, we toured NOLA Motorsports Park, which has been transformed to accommodate the 10.5-mile 23-obstacle course.

I've been training for this challenge for the last two months. In the process, I've lost 25 pounds. To get the ball rolling, I'll directly contribute $10 per pound, so $250.

I like to encourage you all to accept this challenge to help the Wounded Warrior Project, and if you're up to it, come join the fun Saturday morning at Tough Mudder.  Hope to see you there and thank you for your support!
