For all the talk about how young and inexperienced Chris Paul and the New Orleans Hornets are -- they've done this before.

* Porter comes home to play for Saints

So far, so good for Saints top draft pick

Parker and Ginobili each score 31, Spurs take Game 3

Touted recruit asks out of LSU commitment after Brady is fired
LSU basketball coach Trent Johnson said he was caught off guard when he learned prized recruit J'Mison Morgan wanted to be released from his commitment to the Tigers so he could instead attempt to play for UCLA.

* Winning on the road
New Orleans went into its first-round series against Dallas with one big unknown – could the Hornets win in Big D?

They hadn’t done it in 13 games spanning 10 seasons, including two in the regular season this year.

Now, with the Hornets set to take their 2-0 lead into the AT&T Center in San Antonio, the franchise won’t have that same question hanging over its head.

* Hornets look to steal one in San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO -- Chris Paul turned 23 on Tuesday. The New Orleans Hornets' talented point guard said he had a low-key birthday, just hanging out with his teammates.

The big surprise party might happen Thursday night, courtesy of Paul and his team if they can beat the defending champion San Antonio Spurs yet again by picking up a Game 3 win to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.

New Orleans Hornets: The Fun Bunch
Moments after the New Orleans Hornets put San Antonio away 102-84 in Game 2 of its Western Conference semifinal, Jannero Pargo, Tyson Chandler and Mike James celebrated with a dance in the locker room.

Giddy about going up 2-0? Sure.

Normal for a team that averages 24 years old? Absolutely, and it’s the same way this team has been throughout this record-setting season

Hornets turning game around in 2nd half
For the second game in a row, New Orleans took over its Western Conference semifinal against San Antonio in the second half.

In Saturday’s Game 1, the Hornets took over in the third, outscoring San Antonio 29-17.

Monday night was even more impressive. New Orleans outscored the Spurs 36-18 in the third quarter.

* Paul masterful in Game 2 victory
On Saturday night, San Antonio searched in vain for an answer to New Orleans’ David West.

They found none, and West scored 30 points and had nine rebounds.

Monday night, they did.

* Hornets trounce Spurs again

2007 BCS game still weighing down Ohio State
The questions began for Ohio State right about the time the news conferences started Wednesday afternoon for the 2008 BCS Championship Game on Monday.

There was little way Ohio State was going to dodge the proverbial elephant in the room – Florida was going to come up.

Over and over and over and over again.

* 01/05/2008

LSU's dual QB system familiar to Ohio State
Forgive Ohio State if it has a déjà vu moment prior to kickoff Monday night in the BCS Championship Game.

LSU, you see, presents the top-ranked Buckeyes (11-1) with the same set of problems Florida did a year ago.

Jim Henderson Commentary
As the ball was kicked off in Indianapolis on Sept. 6, I remember telling our radio listeners that "the most anticipated season in Saints' history is underway." As the final gun sounded in Chicago on Dec. 30, I remember thinking that "the most disappointing season in Saints' history is over."

Colt Brennan owns 29 NCAA records. He has set 25 Western Athletic Conference records. And he possesses 70 school records at Hawaii. He also has a criminal record.

12/29/2007

The forgotten child: Hawaii's defense key to success
Hawaii’s offense is third in the nation in total offense and first in scoring offense. Quarterback Colt Brennan has become a household name thanks to an arm that secured a place in the top five of the Heisman Trophy vote and just about every NCAA record imaginable.

Georgia's Moreno running into Herschel territory
Most folks who follow Georgia football at least knew the name Knowshon Moreno prior to Oct. 27. He did, after all, come to the Athens, Ga., university as New Jersey’s second-leading career prep school rusher with 6,268 yards.

METAIRIE – Pierre Thomas began the season on the inactive list. He might just end it as the starting running back for New Orleans.

Saints lose 3rd down battle against Eagles, but still alive
METAIRIE – Watching the film of New Orleans’ 38-23 Sunday loss to Philadelphia did little to change the mind of Saints head coach Sean Payton.

In fact, his view of the game moments after it concluded were nearly the exact same Monday afternoon – New Orleans (7-8) couldn’t figure out third-down, couldn’t get into the end zone and couldn’t beat a team that played particularly well.

* 12/23/2007

Goal line failure turned the tide
New Orleans’ season all but came down to three plays on offense and a defensive series that dragged on and on.

* 12/21/2007

Eagles' resurgent D leading the way
METAIRIE – Sure, Philadelphia might be 6-8 and out of the playoff chase in the NFC.

But don’t blame the defense. Only eight teams have allowed fewer points than the Eagles’ defense this year, and the unit brilliant inside the red zone.

In a rhythm: Saints' Brees leading team in late season playoff push
METAIRIE – Drew Brees insists the quarterback who started the season for the Saints, the one who struggled to get on-target, isn’t the guy he looks at in the mirror every morning.

“Statistics from the first four games – I know it’s one touchdown and nine interceptions – it’s a little deceiving,” Brees said Wednesday. “I don’t feel like I was that bad. That’s certainly not me. I don’t how any of those interceptions happened, that’s not me.”

* 12/18/2007

Bush back by Sunday?
METAIRIE – Drew Brees might get a boost in the backfield this week when the Saints host Philadelphia in a crucial conference game with playoff implications.

Reggie Bush might be back, and with Aaron Stecker firmly in command of the featured back spot, New Orleans’ offense could once again present matchup problems for opponents.

12/17/2007

Forecast: Defense biggest impediment to Saints playoff hopes
I’ll just come right out and say it, “I have a sinking feeling it won’t be the Vikings that keep the Saints out of the playoffs. It will be their defense.”

* 12/14/2007

Stecker, Thomas give Saints backfield a boost
METAIRIE – A year ago, Aaron Stecker tallied four carries and 11 yards rushing. Pierre Thomas, meanwhile, was at Illinois, finishing up a career in which he ended with the sixth-most rushing yards in school history.

Now, these two backs are tasked with resuscitating New Orleans’ run game.

* 12/12/2007

Saints place Mare on IR, sign Gramatica
METAIRIE – The New Orleans Saints placed Olindo Mare on injured reserve Wednesday two days after the kicker hurt his hip in the team’s 34-14 win over Atlanta.

Head coach Sean Payton said the team signed Martin Gramatica to handle the Saints field goal, extra points and kick offs.

12/11/2007

Saints better with Bush
METAIRIE – Saints head coach Sean Payton said there was nothing new to report in regards to the status of Reggie Bush a day after the second-year back got a second opinion from noted Birmingham, Ala., orthopedist Dr. James Andrews. Several media outlets, including the Times-Picayune and the AP, reported that Bush’s season could be done after x-rays showed a torn Posterior Cruciate Ligament in his knee.

* 12/09/2007

Saints' Payton will stay aggressive
METAIRIE – All New Orleans had to do was get a first down.

In the very least, it needed to hold onto the ball prior to punting it back to Tampa Bay, in theory with fewer than 3 minutes remaining and the Bucs holding no timeouts.

* 12/08/2007

Watching the league: Saints in tune to Sunday's NFL schedule
METAIRIE – Jon Stinchcomb didn’t deny that he would likely watch Sunday’s NFL slate more closely than normal.

One thing he won’t do, though, is pull out the Algebra book and figure out mathematically what needs to happen for New Orleans to gain a leg up in the NFC Wild Card race.

* 11/28/2007

Member of Saints' practice squad remembers Sean Taylor
METAIRIE – One of Buck Ortega’s favorite memories of Sean Taylor comes from high school, when the two attended Gulliver Prep in Miami.

Ortega, almost a year and a half older than Taylor, needed a way to get to school. Enter Taylor.

* 11/21/2007

Believe it or not, Saints still alive

The Saints are two games back in the division with six games to play.

And for that, New Orleans can count its blessings.

* 11/16/2007

Bush: 'It's about Houston vs. New Orleans'
METAIRIE – Reggie Bush was emphatic.

Sunday’s noon game against Houston is about his Saints and the Texans.

It’s not about Reggie Bush vs. Mario Williams.

* 11/15/2007

Saints' David still playing with confidence
METAIRIE – Jason David sat at his locker in the Saints training facility Wednesday, flanked by cameras and sound recorders.

Those asking questions weren’t there to ask about positives, though. Through it all, David remained and answered question after question about how he can still be confident and about what’s wrong with his game.

11/11/2007

Third down defense kills Saints
Marc Bulger lofted a short pass to tight end Randy McMichael, who turned and rumbled towards the 30-yard line and a first down. The officials spotted the ball short, but St. Louis coach Scott Linehan challenged the spot.

It turns out, the original placement of the ball was wrong. McMichael reached the 30 on third-and-6.

* 11/09/2007

Saints looking for right balance on offense
METAIRIE – It would be easy to look at New Orleans’ previous game and wonder about balance. After all, Drew Brees put up 49 passes, completing 35 for 435 yards. The Saints ran the ball only 25 times.

But, since New Orleans started winning, the offense has been as close to balanced as you’ll get in the NFL.

* 11/07/2007

Breaking out of a slump: Colston playing big
METAIRIE – Maybe it was the pressure. It could have been the monumental expectations. Or possibly just a sophomore slump.

Regardless of which one you want to choose, no one was more bothered with the start to Marques Colston’s season than Marques Colston.

* 08/23/2007
