METAIRIE, La. - A local pharmacy and retail store that has been doing business in Metairie for 25 years, will soon undergo a big change.

It's C's Discount Pharmacy on Veterans and on West Esplanade, and soon they will be under new management.

C's will soon become CVS. For months now a deal has been in the works and although nothing has been signed yet, we are told that by the end of this month, the two discount pharmacies and retail stores will no longer be under the ownership of the Ciolino family but the national chain CVS.

Currently CVS has applied for a license to sell alcohol at the stores and that has to be done 30 days in advance of the sale.

Employees and pharmacists who want to stay, will still work at the stores.

'It has been an honor for my family to serve the Metairie community for the past 25 years,' said Steve Ciolino, the majority owner of C's. 'I am confident CVS/pharmacy will continue the tradition we established at C's Discount Pharmacy and will make this transition as easy as possible for customers and employees.'

Prescription files will stay in the same place so you will still be able to fill and refill your medications as usual at the pharmacy.

There are currently six other CVS stores in Orleans Parish and 14 stores in Jefferson Parish.

The stores will be renamed on April 2 with the signage going up that morning.
