JEFFERSONPARISH, La. -- The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide on the West Bank.

According to the sheriff's office, a man died in a drive-by shooting near the intersection of Wall Boulevard and North Carlisle Drive by the Oakdale Playground.

Around 8 p.m., the unidentified male victim was unresponsive in the driver's seat of a Nissan Sentra, according to the sheriff's office.

The car came to a stop in the 2700 block of North Carlisle, according to the sheriff's office. According to witnesses, the Sentra was headed south on Wall when a darker colored vehicle pulled next to it and the person inside opened fire on the Sentra, according to the sheriff's office.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans where he was pronounced dead.
