PEARL RIVER, La. It was a quiet day Thursday at Pearl River High, despite rumors of a security threat.

Wednesday night, authorities told Eyewitness News they were looking into what, at the time, were unsubstantiated reports and allegations of possible violence at a pep rally at Pearl River High Thursday. Deputy Chief Stan Heinrich III said that even though the stories were unsubstantiated, extra officers were put at the school to assure the safety of the students and staff at the school on Thursday.

School officials told parents in an automated message this morning that the rumors stemmed from an isolated incident between two students Wednesday. One of the students was kept from school for the day and the pep rally was canceled.
