JEFFERSON, La. -- Convicted former Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard will be a free man a little longer.

Judge Hayden Head signed an order allowing Broussard to report to prison May 6.

He was supposed to begin serving a 36-month sentence for conspiracy and theft April 8.

His attorney asked for a delay because the bureau of prisons had not designated a facility to house Broussard.

Prosecutors did not oppose the request.
