SLIDELL, La. A Picayune man was apprehended after police said he jumped across the counter of a convenience store and tried to grab a fistful of $20 bills from the register.

Christopher Nelson, 46, was tracked down and arrested after a person near the scene got a license plate number of a car leaving the scene.

According to Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith, a surveillance video shows Nelson paying for a soda and then reaching across the counter to grab some money. Smith said the clerk fought back and retrieved all of the bills except for one.

Nelson was tracked down in Picayune, Mississippi by Picayune Police and was still wearing the same clothing, according to Smith.

Nelson is charged with simple robbery.
