NEW ORLEANS -- The man who gained national fame in a book about Hurricane Katrina has been acquitted of trying to kill his wife.

Abdulrahman Zeitoun, potrayed as a hero in the Dave Eggers' book 'Zeitoun,' was found not guilty today of attempted murder and solicitation for murder.

Judge Frank Marullo rejected claims that Zeitoun tried to hire a cellmate from Orleans Parish Prison to fatally shoot his wife.

He blasted prosecutors for putting the former inmate on the stand, saying his testimony couldn't be trusted.
