WASHINGTON PARISH, La. -- A Mt. Hermon special education teacher was arrested by the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office and charged with child pornography and aggravated incest.
Murry 'Joey' Duncan, 45, a junior high teacher, was arrested after an investigation, according to Washington Parish Chief Deputy Mike Haley.
After a complaint about sex abuse with a juvenile, authorities began investigating Duncan. When he was questioned about the allegations, according to Haley, Duncan confessed to 'improper behavior with juveniles and possession of child pornography.'
Duncan told authorities, 'I have been battling these demons for a long time.'
According to the sheriff's office, he allowed investigators to search his home, where child pornography was seized. A more thorough analysis of his computer, thumb drives and other accessories is being conducted by the sheriff's office.
Duncan was involved juveniles in other activities, such as athletic, church and camp events in addition to teaching, giving him access to juveniles. He admitted to improper sexual behavior with at least two juveniles at a church summer camp held in another parish, and according to the sheriff's office, the incidents are being investigated.
Duncan was placed in the Washington Parish Jail Wednesday and bond was set at $50,000. While in jail, he was arrested again on Thursday for aggravated incest. Bond has not been set for that charge and he remains in jail.
If any parent or guardians have any concerns about possible improper contact between Duncan and their child or any other children, they are asked to contact the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office at 985-839-3434.
