MERAUX, La. -- St. Bernard Parish fire crews responded to a fire at the Valero Refinery, the former Murphy Oil refinery, in Meraux early Sunday morning.
St. Bernard Fire Chief Thomas Stone told Eyewitness News that no residents or people outside of the refinery on E. St. Bernard Highway were in danger and no evacuations were ordered.
Additional reports said the fire was contained to a crude unit inside the refinery and that there were no reports of serious injuries.
The situation began approximately 2 a.m. Sunday.
