KENNER, La. A .25 caliber gun was taken from a passenger's carry-on bag at Armstrong International Airport Thursday afternoon, according to a TSA Agent.

Jonathan Allen said authorities took possession of the firearm. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m.

The passenger will likely face civil penalties from the TSA that could run into the thousands of dollars.

Allen said that while firearms may be transported in checked baggage (provided they are declared to the airline, in a proper carrying case and unloaded) they are prohibited in carry-on bags.
