KENNER, La. - A Slidell businessman who had been imprisoned in South Sudan in a 40-day ordeal was welcomed home into the waiting arms of his family Monday afternoon at Armstrong International Airport.

Mark McCabe had taken a business trip to South Sudan and was arrrested and imprisoned on kidnapping charges. During his time in prison he suffered a heart attack.

After learning of his situation, Senator David Vitter began a campaign to get McCabe back home by threatening foreign aid to SouthSudan and after a few delays, McCabe finally arrived back in the U.S.

'I started shaking like Iam now,'he said. 'I love the United States of America. I love my state. I don't know Mr. Vitter but I'm going to shake his hand when Imeet him. I heard he fought hard for me and my family.'

McCabe was taken home in a limo that was donated for the occasion.
