BOGALUSA, La. - It's been a week since emergency responders rushed to a car wash on the corner of Sullivan and 4th Street, where a man was found next to the vacuums, with a single gunshot wound to the head.
That man, Cedrick Fairley from Purvis, MS, died a few hours later, and, as of Tuesday, police still don't have any direction on his killer.
Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper said, 'Our case is not moving forward like I'd like to see it do.'
While Fairley was found at the car wash, his car was found a few blocks away, and police canvassed all the businesses and homes in between for information, with no luck. Even surveillance cameras posted around the car wash proved a bust because they haven't been working for some time. Despite the scene being on a busy corner in Bogalusa, and the crime happening in the middle of a bright, clear day like Tuesday, the police department is stumped.
'We're just kind of running into a dead end,' said Culpepper.
People who live in the area say it's sad and scary that a killer is still on the loose.
Eddie Harris said, 'I reckon they trying to get theyself together on doing it, I hope they resolve it.'
But police are hoping a widespread plea to the public and forensic testing will turn that around soon.
Culpepper said, 'Anything anybody knows in relation to this murder, we need to know.'
This is Bogalusa's first murder of the year. If you have any information contact the police department tip line at 985-732-BUST.
