Stolen property worth nearly $250,000 dollars was retrieved by deputies from a lake adjacent to Pearl River Friday after arresting a burglary suspect, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office.

Detectives received a report on the burglary a year ago from a doctor upon noticing the absence of his fine art and collectibles, Captain Tommie Sorrell said.

The burglars later placed the items for sale online, and, Sorrell said, investigations also revealed that some of people in California and New York had already purchased some items. Authorities tracked the sales back to Pearl River County, where deputies connected names similar to names Washington Parish has been looking at for burglaries.

A single arrest was made, and an informant reports that the other suspects dumped the possessions, which led to Friday's searches in a lake and creek.

Collectibles found in the lake included a $45,000 vase, and authorities said 11 long guns were found in the creek. Authorities said they expect to arrest the other suspects.
