NEW ORLEANS -- A 26-year-old man is now dead after a shooting near the St. Thomas Development Neighborhood, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The shooting happened before 7 p.m. in the 500 block of Josephine Street.

NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said the victim was standing in front of a residence when two gunmen drove up in recreational vehicles, possibly four wheelers, and opened fire on the victim.

The victim, who was shot multiple times, was taken to the hospital where he died a short while later. His name hasn't been released due to pending notification of family members.

Police haven't released any information on a suspect or motive.
