JEFFERSON, La. -- The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the murder of a man they say was shot to death near the intersection of South Causeway Blvd. and Andover Street in Jefferson, around 11:52 p.m. Sunday night.
According to Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff's spokesman, officers found the body of a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, lying in the street in the 1100 block of South Causeway Blvd.
The victim, identified by the JeffersonParish Coroner's office as Verdell Brown, 32, was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Witnesses told police that the victim was at a nearby bar at 1113 South Causeway prior to the shooting. The victim left the establishment, and while walking on South Causeway Blvd. was approached by three unidentified men, one of which was armed with a handgun. The men began firing at victim numerous times.
All three subjects were seen driving away in an unknown make or model vehicle.
A number of spent shell casings were found in the area where the victim was discovered.
Currently there is no motive in this shooting, and police have not yet been able to identify any of the suspects.
