FARGO, ND. -- One North Dakota woman isn't handing out treats to everyone this Halloween; instead she says she'll be handing out letters to children who are overweight.

The woman, known only as 'Cheryl,' decided to take childhood obesity into her own hands with a letter that she plans to hand out to some children Halloween night.

In the letter, she writes that the child is receiving the note because he or she is moderately obese and should not be eating any candy. 'I just want to send a message to the parents of kids that are really overweight. I think it's just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just 'cause all the other kids are doing it,' she said.

One clinical psychologist says the letter may do more harm than good to children, especially since children and adolescents in particular are very conscious of fitting in with their peers.
