NEWORLEANS-- A handgun went off inside a band room at Sophie B. Wright Charter School last week, prompting the arrest of two teenage students who allegedly had the weapon, New Orleans police said.

Taykuan Walker and Derrick Noten, both 17, were seen shooting a handgun inside the bandroom on Thursday, according to the arrest report. The school called police, and when officers arrived, Walker and Noten had been detained in the office with a bag containing a gun magazine, two casings and some marijuana, the report states.
