SLIDELL, La. -- The Slidell community is still numb after a two people died in a shooting. Those who work nearby say they have never seen a Christmas party turn so violent.

Police say after a Christmas party let out at Shooters Social Bar, an argument erupted outside and someone opened fire, killing 22-year old Errol Scott and 23-year-old Mark Womack.

'This restaurant has been here for five years and it is just crazy to hear something like that happening,' said Beer and Tacos bartender Chris Sevin. 'Crazy that would go down here in Olde Towne.'

Police say while Scott was targeted, Womack was caught in the crossfire. A friend of Scott said he was hoping to play college football and had a bright future ahead of him.

'He had a smile that would brighten your day,' said Earvin Darby, Scott's friend. 'If you need a laugh, he would be there for you. He was the most loyal person you could ask for.'

'We will not stop until the person or people who are responsible for this horrific crime are caught and brought to justice,' said Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith.

Residents who were awakened by gunshots say this should raise a red flag with city lawmakers.

'It is a shame, but this is not Slidell. It is not who we are, and hopefully this is a wake-up call for the city to shut these places down because all they are is nothing but trouble,' said resident Ronnie Dunaway.

'It makes me angry inside to know that people would just aim at innocent people like that,' Sevin said.
