MARRERO, La. - A 40-year-old woman was arrested for stealing more than $13,000 from the accounts of three Medicaid recipients whose accounts she oversaw, state Attorney General Buddy Caldwell announced Friday.

Shelisa Gilbert, of Marrero, surrendered to investigators with the attorney general's office on Tuesday and was charged with three felony counts of exploitation of the infirmed.

According to the attorney general's office, Gilbert oversaw the victims' use of their checking accounts and she conducted several unauthorized transactions from their personal accounts.
