NEWORLEANS-- The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has ruled the death of a man hit in the head with a bottle a homicide, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Officer Garry Flot, a spokesman for NOPD, said Charles Robertson, 31, who was struck in the head with the bottle on Mar. 22, died eight days later on Mar. 30.

Robertson's death has been classified as a homicide by the coroner, Flot said. The result of blunt force trauma.

According to police, Robertson and Richard Dozier, 49, got into a fight in the 3400 block of North Claiborne Avenue. Dozier admitted to police he hit Robertson in the head with a bottle. Robertson was placed intensive care at the hospital where he later died.

Dozier was arrested and taked to Central Lock-Up and booked with second-degree battery. He later bonded out of jail.

According to Flot, the Homicide Division is investigating the incident.
