VIOLET, La. - An argument escalated into a shooting and then a standoff with law enforcement Monday afternoon in Violet.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Edgar Street in Violet.

According to a spokesperson, two men began arguing and one of the men, identified as Brandon Robinson, shot the other man in the thigh.

The two men then went into the home and Robinson barricaded them inside.

After more than two hours of a standoff, police were able to negotiate and get Robinson out of the home. The victim was taken to LSU's interim hospital, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Robinson was booked with aggravated battery, home invasion. false imprisonment, illegal discharge of a weapon and aggravated assault, according to the sheriff's office.
