NEW ORLEANS -- Members of the NOPD chased down and arrested an armed robber Tuesday afteran officersaw the man rob a business and try to flee the scene, according to the police.
Police say they arrested Jeremy Youngblood, 21, after finding him under a house in the 4200 block of Urqhart Street using a canine unit, a little less than a mile from the business he held-up.
Around 8:30 p.m., Youngblood walked in a business at the 3100 block of St. Claude Avenue and demanded money. The cashier gave him the money and then Youngblood left, according to police.
As Youngblood was leaving, police say an officer commanded him to stop. Youngblood then dropped the money and fled in a car. Officers followed the vehicle to the area of the 4200 block of Urqhart Street where Youngblood stopped the car, and fled on foot.
Officers set up a perimeter around the area, and found Youngblood under a house using a canine unit, according to police. Police found the gun and other evidence from the incident.
Youngblood was charged with armed robbery, resisting an officer by flight, firearm used in a robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.
