NEW ORLEANS The FBI raided the home of a Department of Environmental Quality employee for several hours early Tuesday morning.
Officials with the DEQ said they aren't sure if the matter involving Michael Drury has anything to do with his job as an environmental scientist at the department. They said they had no information on the investigation.
The FBI would not disclose what they are investigating, but did say it is related to a criminal matter.
Several agents left Drury's house in the 4400 block of Chestnut Street carrying several boxes.
The DEQ said Drury is an environmental scientist who worked after Hurricane Katrina to make sure contractors, including the city, were following environmental regulations.
Drury confirmed that he was being investigated by the FBI, but would not say what the FBI was looking into.
DEQ's communication director said they haven't been told of anything, but promised to work with the FBI in its investigation.
